Eden au Lac

If you haven’t already surmised, this is clearly one of our favorite places!

When it comes down to business,  I always find myself here; a place where not only the wine is the top and impressive, but also the atmosphere.
This time I visit a winetasting at the Skybar, in the 5 star hotel EDEN AU LAC Zurich. In our experience, while over the rooftops of Zurich, enjoying the sun and the incomparable view of Lake Zurich and the Alps, we really find our productivity increasing enormously.  Add to this the fine Mediterranean cuisine, refreshing drinks and good lounge music and you will also find that the Skybar offers the perfect location for all.
To start, we had a taste of the in-house Champagne Michel Reybier brut, which is an excellent, authentic and well-made champagne; it gave us, especially on this hot summer day, the necessary refreshment we needed.
Then we moved on to France. The classic Pouilly Fume from de Ladoucette-a must on any selected wine list. The wine is a clear expression of the grape variety and terroir and features typical Sauvignon Blanc aromas of gooseberry and white flowers. The crisp acidity stimulates and entices the next sip.
Not to be overshadowed, this was followed by a dry Riesling Schiefer 2013 out of the house Villa Huesgen of the Moselle. The acid rich, complex aromas in the nose and palate were long lasting and invigorating.
Despite the high temperatures, we still ventured to a Red: Goulée by Cos d’Estournel 2011.The great noble brother is usually on everyone’s lips, but this cuvee of the Haut Medoc with high Merlot, some Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, boasts concentrated flavors of black cherries and blackberries. The soft tannins show the high quality of the house. A Bordeaux ready to be enjoyed.

The traditional Eden au Lac simply shines with its selection of young wines, trendy rooftop, and absolutely competent staff in such a fresh and lively way so that every visit feels like a mini wellness holiday.
