Frescobaldi Toscana, a Chianti with class, Tenuta Perano
Chianti is always a good choice! Especially when he comes from a house like Frescobaldi. Therefore, I got the information first-hand and had an exciting conversation with Marchese Frescobaldi.
The Chianti Classico Tenuta Perano is born on the hills of Gaiole in Chianti from vineyards 500 meters above sea level. The south, southwestern exposure and the amphitheatre-shaped layout magnifies the exposure to the sun and concentrates the heat from it. The combination of elevation, exposure, and the shape and slope of the vineyards offers and extraordinarily unique quality setting that results in brilliant purple wines possessed of intensely fruity aromas and a great tannic structure rife with elegance. Harvest by hand. Tenuta Perano 2016 stands out for its bright purple colour. Its bouquet alternates between floral aromas and notes of wild berries and cherry. Balsamic nuances and a subtle spiciness follow. The freshness and tannic texture add an element of surprise, elegantly caressing and slowly filling the palate. The intense and persistent finish leaves the palate clean and fresh.
Tenuta Perano Riserva 2015 is a brilliant purple wine with a floral nose dominated by violet and rosehip aromas. Blackcurrant fruity notes lead into marked spiced highlights of black pepper and nutmeg followed by underbrush and humus. The wine is fresh, complex and rich to the palate. The tannin structure is rich and dense as appropriate for the most authentic Sangiovese. The finish is persistent, harmonious and bequeaths pleasant memories of noble tobacco.
Finally, I asked the Marchese if there was a mistake he ever made and then regretted it, his answer: “who works hard makes mistakes and who makes no mistakes can not learn from them and develop himself” So we grow with the challenges.
